The evening of your arrival will be a time
to unpack and unwind. If time permits we can tour the property to get
a feel for where we will be hunting and to turn up the anticipation. A
wonderful supper and time around the fire getting to know each other will
conclude our first evening as we retire to dream of pheasant hunting greatness.
One of the beauties of South Dakota pheasant season is the opportunity
to sleep in a bit without missing any of the action. During the first
two weeks of the season shooting time is 12:00 noon, moving up to 10:00am
for the rest of the year. So, no required pre -dawn rising. After a leisurely
big country breakfast it’s off to the multi station sporting clays
range for a little warm up. We have designed the course to imitate many
of the shots you will face in the field. If you’re a golfer think
of it as a practice range. Once we have eliminated all our excuses for
missed birds and had a brief safety review, we will spend the morning
chasing roosters. Whether you are a seasoned upland hunter or a first
timer we will all work together to make it a great day. At some point
we will return to the lodge for a casual lunch of homemade soups and sandwiches
and its back out for the afternoon hunt. More walking, laughing and shooting
in some of Gods’ best country. Finally, we return to the lodge to
relax, clean up and embellish stories of legendary hits and misses. Later
in the evening it’s another great meal together and a night filled
with our namesake; great Fellowship. If all that sounds good, well, you
get two more full days of the same thing. When our hunts conclude a little
early we will travel the forty minuets to Cabelas outdoor store and visit
a true hunter’s paradise. Its 280,000 square feet of stuff you could
really use! Another day we will visit our good friend and taxidermist
Kenny Kliensasser. We’re a little bias because he’s part of
the family, but we think you will agree he’s a true artist. You
will have an opportunity to see his showroom and order a mount if your
interested. On our fourth and final morning together there will be a continental
breakfast available as we bid farewell and make respective airport runs.
Fun, fellowship, great food, amazing sunsets and unforgettable hunting
in a very special place await you at Dakota Fellowship Lodge. We look
forward to our time together.
